Pancakes... as animals:
2⁄3 cup milk
1 egg, lightly beaten
2 tbsp melted butter
3⁄4 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tbsp sunflower oil
4 tbsp granulated sugar
1 pinch of salt
•••
- Whisk the milk the milk, egg and butter in a
liquid measuring cup. Sift the flour, sugar,
baking powder and a pinch of salt into a
bowl. Beat the wet ingredients into the dry.
- Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat.
(Make sure to have an adult with you for
parts 2-3!)Add a little oil to the pan and
spoon on the batter. To be making the
animal (lion), you'll need 1 large round
pancake, 1 small round pancake and 3
very small round pancakes. For the people
who aren't, just make normal pancakes (I
suggest 2 tbsp of the mix per pancake) and
cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Once bubbles appear, flip the pancakes
and cook for about 3 minutes, flipping it to
see if it's cooked about every minute. Keep
the pancakes warm while you make the
rest.
- Now that the pancakes are made and if you're
making the lion, here's what to do:
•••
- Face:
1 large round pancake, 1 small round pancake and
2 very small round pancakes.
Ears:
A third very small pancake (cut in half) and
chocolate hazelnut spread.
Mane:
Cut 16 slices of strawberry, lengthwise. Eyes: 2
banana slices, 2 pieces of sliced almonds and 2
blueberries.
Nose:
1 large raspberry.
•••
- Center the large pancake on a plate. Surround it
with the strawberry slices, points facing outward,
for the mane. Spread the half-pancake ears with
chocolate hazelnut spread and position them on
top of the large pancake. Add the banana slices for
the eyes. Top each with an almond slice, and
position the blueberries below. For the nose, place
the small pancake at the bottom of the large
pancake, top with the two very small pancakes
and finish with the raspberry.
•••
- I hope you enjoy! If you made these, reply and tell
me how it went!
Happy baking,
